WOMEN FOR WOMEN AND ALL

Women Fund Tanzania in conjunction with TGNP-Mtandao and UN-Women Tanzania recently held a meeting that brought together representatives from various women rights organizations in Tanzania to discuss on key issues that need to be further developed within the women’s rights movement in the country. These issues include building of a feminist conceptual clarity of women within the movement and that of intercultural gaps.

The occasion was graced by Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, UN-Women Executive Director who was on her first official visit to Tanzania. She said that said the fight for gender inequality has to be time bound and that the year 2025 should be the time women should set to achieve gender equality.

The women’s movement was represented in a panel discussion by Mary Rusimbi, WFT’s Executive Director; Ms. Lilian Liundi, TGNP-Mtandao’s Executive Director and Ms. Rebeca Gyumi the Executive Director of Msichana Initiative.
