The Board of Trustees of Women Fund Tanzania (WFT Trust), Secretariat, and members of women movement are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved friend, colleague and sister, Christina Warioba who served in the Board of Trustees of Women Fund Tanzania and as a Chairperson of the Board Grant Technical Selection and Management committee between 2019 to 2021.The Late Christina Warioba passed away on Monday 30th May 2022 after a long illness.

Ms. Christina was a specialist in social development, policy, legal framework, governance, gender mainstreaming and a staunch women’s rights advocate, her dedication and commitment to advance gender equality is incomparable. Women Fund Tanzania Trust appreciates Dada Christine’s tireless efforts in strengthening the Fund’s organizational capacity and guidance throughout its growth. We will forever cherish her contributions in steering the Fund’s grant making mechanism for reaching women and girls that are most in need in different parts of the country.

On behalf of the women’s movement in Tanzania and the entire constituency served by Women Fund Tanzania Trust, we salute Dada Christine’s immense contributions in promoting transformative approaches in combating gender-based violence within SADC, Gender responsive budgeting as well as regional normative frameworks on gender equality including SADC. Dada Christine will be remembered for fostering gender equality and women’s rights principles in policy and development processes including offering capacity building support for the effective implementation, monitoring, and tracking of results. Dada Christine made a great contribution in enhancing women political participation and gender responsive research to inform evidence-based policy making as well as engaging in strategic advocacy and policy analysis.

As we join her family in mourning, we celebrate her effective leadership, innovative insights on women’s rights and gender equality and her great ability to forge partnerships in pursuing opportunities to develop capacities for women’s rights and the gender equality movement in Tanzania and beyond.

We will always remember her calm, reassuring smile, her firm resolve and her great personality. Her spirit will remain a source of inspiration to us forever.

May Her Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
